Non-Certified Discover Scuba – 2 Day Course

Our DSD course allows our customers the chance to go through a very informative classroom session, practice some essential skills in our pool, and then enjoy 2 ocean dives. The entire time you will be directly supervised by one of our fantastic instructors who ensure you are doing everything in a safe and enjoyable manner. All of our Discover Scuba Diver students receive private or semi private instruction. Please plan on this being a 2 day experience with the first day having some classroom time spent with our instructors and some pool work. The following day will be your opportunity for 2 ocean dives.

Visibility can change from day to day, but ranges from 30 to 60 feet.

Some of the most common creatures that can be seen are:

octopus, scorpion fish, Moorish idol, spotted puffer fish, zebra moray, and spotted eagle rays, among others.

Las Catalinas Islands Scuba Diving

Located around 15-20 minutes from our dive shop. This site is friendly to all new and experienced divers. Procedures remain the same (paperwork, equipment and briefing).

The Catalina Islands are some of the best spots to scuba dive in all of Costa Rica. There are several dive sites located around these islands which protrude from the Pacific in the Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica. The islands are a fair distance offshore and are the home of the Pacific Giant Mantas among other marine life.

Before getting into the water, our dive master will verify safety and the final instructions for entering and exiting from the boat. Each immersion usually takes 40-45 minutes, depending on diver air usage, and his comfort undersea.

Itinerary

While not a certification course, Discover Scuba Diving is a quick and easy introduction to what it takes to explore the amazing underwater world. See how easy it is to move around underwater with your gear and find out what it’s like to breathe underwater. Learn key skills that you’ll use during every scuba dive. Have fun swimming around and exploring.

On Day 1 you will be picked up from your accommodations and taken to a nearby pool in Playas del coco. Here you will put on all of the dive equipment under the direct supervision of a PADI professional and learn breathing underwater, communication signals, and what to do in different situations such as when you are ready to go up to the surface.

On Day 2, you´ll make 2 open water dives. We´ll take you on an underwater tour looking for sharks, rays, octopus and a huge variety of marine fish we have living in our waters, in the right season you can even sometimes hear humpbacks singing!

TRANSPORTATION INFO:

Pick up times are approximate and depend on the pick up zone. We will send you your exact pick up time the day before the tour. Please be ready 5 minutes before the specified time but it may take us up to 10 minutes longer depending on the day’s pick up schedule and traffic.

Special Notes

Please wait a minimum of 18 hours after diving before you fly!
You are required to complete a medical statement and need to be in reasonable physical health. If there is any question regarding your health you must see a doctor before we can allow you to partake in the course.
Proof of certification is required for the Certified Diving Tour. You must show your dive license to staff at the store when completing paperwork. Lack of proof may require additional cost and training.
Age limit – Minimum 10 years old to dive (certification required) or snorkel
Warning – Even if you don’t generally get sea sick, we recommend taking something to help alleviate those symptoms. It is always better to prevent this from happening.
