The Monteverde butterfly garden, hanging bridges, and sloth tour makes for an ideal day! Visit the famous Sloth Sanctuary of Selvatura Park for a chance to view up to 20 sloth specimens. In the sanctuary, the sloths can travel freely between paths specially created to roam among the trees and foliage of the exhibition. After a hearty lunch, take your time and walk through the clouds through elevated, hanging bridges, which range from 150 feet to 510 feet above the forest floor. The excursion includes lunch and visit to the butterfly garden.

Our drivers will pick you up and drive you to the Monteverde Cloud Forest – For participants coming from the Pacific Coast, your travel time will be approximately 3 to 3.5 hours to reach the Cloud Forest.

Hanging Bridges

The Tree Top Walkways consists of a 1.9 mile (approximately 3 kilometer) trail that crosses through the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Here visitors will walk on eight different bridges with various lengths ranging between 150 feet (50 meters) up to 510 feet (170 meters) and altitudes ranging between 36 feet (12 meters) up to 180 feet (60 meters). Each bridge has a width of five feet, and also a capacity of up to 80 people per bridge making them both the longest and strongest bridge systems in the Monteverde Cloud Forest. The Tree Top Walkways are suitable for people of all ages. The duration of the hike usually takes between 1.5 and 2 hours.

Butterfly Garden

The Monteverde butterfly garden at Selvatura Park boasts one of the largest and most beautiful butterfly gardens in the Americas, and is home to more than 30 species of Costa Rican butterflies. Wander through this spacious dome-shaped structure that ensures the perfect amount of sunlight and shelter from the wind for these delicate animals to flutter between the array of nectar-rich flowers.
