Unveil Nature’s Majesty: Kayak Adventure on lake Arenal at the base of the Volcano!
Our journey brings us to El Fosforo in the town of Castillo, settled along the lake’s shores. Whether you are a beginner or have some experience, we will go over safety instructions. We use high-quality kayaking gear like Ocean Kayak single and double kayaks, lifejacket and paddle. Your guide will accompany you, providing historical insights about the lake and helping refine your paddling skills. As we paddle the lake, we will be looking for diverse bird species like the “Flycatcher,” “Kingfisher,” “Great Blue Heron,” and “Anhinga.” Be on the lookout for howler monkeys and other wildlife in the surrounding trees.
Finish your paddling right in front of our Pedal & Paddle Adventure Store where you will have the chance to change into your dry clothes and to fuel up with a refreshing and well-deserved delicious snack.
Come kayak on Lake Arenal with us — this is one of the best spots for kayaking in Costa Rica! Enjoy time on the water watching birdlife and the spectacular view of the Arenal Volcano!

Self-Drive
- Meet your guide at Lake Arenal @ 7:30 AM or 1:30 PM (location given in confirmation)
With Transportation
Transportation is provided from hotels and private residences in the La Fortuna/Arenal Area. Some locations have an extra fee, which is charged at check out.
Pick ups begin approximately 45 minutes before the start of your tour. We will send you an official pick up time the day before the tour. Please be ready outside 10 minutes before your scheduled pick up time, but it can take up to 10 minutes longer depending on the day’s pick up schedule and traffic.
If your hotel, house, or condo is not included, we will provide you with the closest meeting location.
Special Notes
- The minimum to operate the shared tour is 2 people, if we don’t meet the minimum we will send options 1 or 2 days before
- Children must be accompanied by an adult
- We operate this tour rain or shine! In the event of severe weather, we will contact you with options.
- Weight Limit – 500 lbs/ 220kg
- Age limit – Recommended 6-65 years
- Difficulty/Endurance level – Easy to moderate – We recommend being able to swim and with no current injury or health conditions.
