Catalinas Islands are a world famous dive location that divers flock to, especially during the season for Giant Manta Rays. We´ll take you on an underwater adventure looking for sharks, rays, manta rays, octopus and a huge variety of marine fish we have living in our waters. In the right season you can even sometimes hear humpbacks singing!

We provide dive trips daily Monday-Saturday. You will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the dive shop base in Playas del Coco where you will be fitted and put on your scuba diving suit before boarding the diving boat. You will then be taken to Catalina Islands, a volcanic rock formations approx. 40 min boat ride from the shore.

Our rocky underwater terrain is home to a huge variety of marine life, some seasonal. We can see white tip reef sharks, giant manta rays, stingrays, eagle rays, jewel and green morays, nudibranchs, angel and butterfly fish and schools of damsels, jacks, grunts and spadefish.

Our dive times are based on 40-45 minutes. Bottom time and a maximum depth of about18m/60ft. The temperature in the North Pacific coast of Costa Rica ranges between 16-30ºC/60-86ºF depending on the time of year. Visibility can change on a daily basis..

Las Catalinas Scuba Diving from Papagayo

Located around 15-20 minutes from our dive shop. This site is friendly to all new and experienced divers. Procedures remain the same (paperwork, equipment and briefing).

The Catalina Islands are some of the best spots to scuba dive in all of Costa Rica. There are several dive sites located around these islands which protrude from the Pacific in the Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica. The islands are a fair distance offshore and are the home of the Pacific Giant Mantas among other marine life.

Before getting into the water, our dive master will verify safety and the final instructions for entering and exiting from the boat. Each immersion usually takes 40-45 minutes, depending on diver air usage, and his comfort undersea.

Visibility can change from day to day, but ranges from 30 to 60 feet.

Some of the most common creatures that can be seen are:

octopus, scorpion fish, Moorish idol, spotted puffer fish, zebra moray, and spotted eagle rays, among others.

TRANSPORTATION INFO:

Pick up times are approximate and depend on the pick up zone. We will send you your exact pick up time the day before the tour. Please be ready 5 minutes before the specified time but it may take us up to 10 minutes longer depending on the day’s pick up schedule and traffic.

Please wait a minimum of 18 hours after diving before you fly!
You are required to complete a medical statement and need to be in reasonable physical health. If there is any question regarding your health you must see a doctor before we can allow you to partake in the course.
Proof of certification is required for the Certified Diving Tour. You must show your dive license to staff at the store when completing paperwork. Lack of proof may require additional cost and training.
Age limit – Minimum 10 years old to dive (certification required) or snorkel
Warning – Even if you don’t generally get sea sick, we recommend taking something to help alleviate those symptoms. It is always better to prevent this from happening.
